National Alternative Print Show 2025

Free entry for current members

Presented by Rubber City Prints and hosted by Kent State

University at Stark.

Rubber City Prints is excited to launch the National Alternative Print Show 2025.

This year’s exhibition invites artists nationwide to push the boundaries of what print can be. We are seeking work that expands traditional definitions and explores how artists use print to their advantage—through experimentation, technology, and material innovation.

Accepted mediums include: Alternative Prints, Digital Art, Photography, Risograph, Giclée, Collage, and Multimedia. Artists are encouraged to transform drawings, paintings, and digital works into high-quality prints that stand as original works of art, not simply reproductions.

Our goal is to expand the language of printmaking while making fine art more accessible to the public. By embracing new processes and innovations, the exhibition highlights the creativity, excellence, and thoughtfulness that define contemporary printmaking and alternative print practices today.

We aim to present work that demonstrates both technical quality and conceptual depth—whether through large-format printing, experimental processes, or innovative uses of media. Importantly, this show also addresses accessibility: we believe art should be available to everyone, including individuals who may not see themselves as traditional art collectors.

Beyond exhibition, this is an educational opportunity to share the wide-reaching influence of print. The show will highlight how artists are expanding the field, showcase the diverse forms and mediums possible, and deepen public understanding of the role alternative printmaking plays in fine art, graphic expression, and photography.

All sales will be directed to the artist through QR codes linking to their chosen site. No commission will be taken by RCP. Framed or unframed is acceptable.

Rubber City Prints was founded by a group of women printmakers from Kent State University who wanted to ensure artists in Akron had access to facilities and opportunities to thrive. Today, that mission continues by supporting artists nationwide and celebrating the evolving future of print.
